A pH meter is an electric device used to measure the hydrogen ions activity (acidity or alkalinity) of a given solution by means of potentiometry. it consists of a H electrode (which the reference electrode) and the pH responsive electrode that are connected together through a voltmeter. The potential difference between the H electrode and the pH responsive electrode is then used to determine the pH of the given solution.
